Position : Tax Preparer

Working Schedule : 8a-6p CST

Salary Range : $2000-$2500 Monthly (the final salary will be determined by the candidate's level of experience and at the discretion of the client

 

Role Summary:

A Tax Preparer is responsible for preparing and filing accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses including preparation of client workpapers consistent with Company policies. This role involves collecting and reviewing financial documents, identifying deductible expenses, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws as well as making journal entries and adjusting client books and / or preparing Firm trial balance software. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of tax regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and organize client financial data, including income statements, receipts, and previous tax returns.
  • Interview clients to obtain all necessary information for completing tax returns.
  • Calculate and complete tax returns accurately and on time, ensuring all applicable deductions and credits are considered.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Advise clients on tax planning strategies to minimize their tax liability for the current and future years.
  • Handle client inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Represent clients with tax authorities during audits or inquiries, as needed.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of client information.
  • Use tax preparation software efficiently and accurately.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Experience in tax preparation, either professionally or through a certification program.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
  • Proficiency with tax software (e.g., Lacerte, Ultra Tax, CCH ProSystem fx).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure during peak tax seasons.
  • IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA certification is a plus.
