The Cerner EHR SME will serve as an independent consultant, providing expert guidance and analysis during periodic IV&V reviews of an Electronic Health Record Project. This role requires deep functional and technical expertise in Cerner EHR solutions, healthcare workflows, and system implementation best practices. The SME will participate in scheduled reviews, assess project progress and deliverables against requirements, and identify risks, issues, and improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct periodic, structured IV&V reviews of the Cerner EHR implementation.
- Evaluate Cerner EHR configuration, workflows, interfaces, and data migration processes.
- Review project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with clinical workflows.
- Assess the readiness and quality of deliverables from vendors and internal teams.
- Identify gaps, risks, and issues in the Cerner EHR implementation and provide actionable recommendations.
- Validate system functionality against intended use cases and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other IV&V team members to produce clear, evidence-based findings and reports.
- Maintain independence from daily project management activities.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare IT, specifically with Cerner EHR solutions.
- Proven experience in EHR implementation, optimization, and validation.
- Deep knowledge of Cerner Millennium architecture, clinical modules, interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR), and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with federal and state healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and data security standards.
- Experience in Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) or similar independent audit/review processes.
- Strong ability to analyze complex systems, workflows, and integration points.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with state or local health department EHR implementations.
- Background in quality assurance, risk management, or compliance audits for healthcare IT.
- Certification in Cerner EHR or related clinical/technical domains.
Special Considerations:
- Need to be onsite when required.
- Part-time, periodic engagement based on the project's IV&V review schedule.
