Job Classification: Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic - Entry Level & lateral transfer
Lateral transfers will be considered, but you are required to complete the National Testing process and our physical agility testing.
The Genoa Township Fire Department is currently hiring Firefighter/Paramedics. Your testing process must be completed through the National Testing Network no later than August 15th, 2025. Please read the entire job posting; failing to complete the PI, PHI, and online interview will prohibit the candidate from being considered in the hiring process.

Department Information:
Genoa Township Fire Department, a suburban full service career department consisting of 30 full time firefighters and 3 administrative staff personnel serves a population of over 25,000 in a 21.5 square mile area consisting of primarily upscale residential homes and the majority of Hoover Reservoir, a 3,272 acre water source for the greater Columbus, Ohio area.
Genoa Township Fire Department provides fire suppression, fire prevention, public education, advanced life support including transport, and technical rescue disciplines including a 24/7 ice/water dive rescue team servicing Delaware County and surrounding areas.

Job Description:
Firefighter/Paramedic
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
A Firefighter/Paramedic performs emergency work in the protection of life and property. A Firefighter/Paramedic is responsible for the rapid and efficient performance of specialized duties under emergency conditions which may involve personal hazards. A major portion of the Firefighter/Paramedic's time is spent in preparing to combat fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, technical rescue emergencies, and others as the needs arise. A Firefighter/Paramedic also performs routine work in the maintenance of fire station property and equipment. A Firefighter/Paramedic is subject to call-in at any time in the event of emergency.
APPLICANTS MUST:
Pass fire team test, complete PHQ, PI, and online interview by deadline
Provide proof of Firefighter II and Paramedic certification
Pass an agility test
Pass an panel interview
Successfully complete a background investigation
Pass a psychological evaluation
Pass post-offer exams including medical and drug testing
Applicants must pass each phase of the testing and selection process in order to be considered eligible for appointment. Failure of any phase will result in disqualification from further testing and consideration.
REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT:
Excellent physical condition. Be physically capable of performing responsibilities in accordance to the Genoa Township Fire Department Employment Policy. Weight (body fat content) must be proportionate to height for men and women
Ability to learn fire fighting techniques and the operation of fire fighting equipment within a reasonable working test period
Ability to read and understand technical material, rules and regulations concerning fire fighting
Ability to analyze situations rapidly and adopt an effective course of action
Ability to cooperate with other workers, to accept lines of authority, and maintain courteous relationships with the general public
Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis such as a pry bar or halligan and occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 200 pounds or more such as an extrication tool, deluge gun, hose pack, and 24' extension ladder
Ability to climb ladders and work in high, precarious places
Participate in continuing education and instruction programs by individual study and by attendance at scheduled drills and training classes as required
Ability to acquire skill in the operation of various tools and equipment such as emergency medical equipment, fire apparatus, fire pumps, hoses, first aid equipment and other standard firefighting and technological equipment
Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in special operations including, but not limited to: Hazmat Tech and Public Safety Diver and Water/Ice Rescue certification
