POSITION SUMMARY

This a full-time skilled position requiring experience in the residential building maintenance trade. This may include experience with carpentry, drywall, minor electrical & plumbing, painting, and assessing problems with and HVAC systems. This position requires the ability to analyze problems, develop a course of repair and follow through to completion while maintaining professional standards of quality and attention to cost. May require some on-call emergency work.

You will support the Five Keys mission by creating a learning and work environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking through an equity lens. Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work with Facilities Manager to create a survey and maintenance schedule for Five Keys facilities
  • Survey Five Keys facilities for safety, state of repair, cleanliness, and possible upgrades on a regular basis, and as often as necessary to keep facilities functional and safe at all times
  • Complete Facilities Status Reports, logging the status of each facility visited, including required repairs
  • Perform all scheduled maintenance items on a regular basis, and as often necessary to keep the facility in proper repair
  • Perform all necessary repairs that do not require outside professional contractors
  • Perform all building improvements as requested by management that do not require outside professional contractors
  • Perform all tasks and repairs in a timely fashion, and communicate to the Facilities Manager all problems or issues that continue to require attention
  • Fill out a Repairs Log for each item identified for repairs, including: date repair is noticed, notes on repair, requirements for repair including parts or professionals required, date repair complete, other recommendations about this issue
  • Where outside professional contractors are required, locate, evaluate, schedule, and approve the work of those contractors in cooperation with the Facilities Manager
  • Complete all required documentation, tracking, form submissions, etc, as requested by Facilities Manager
  • Track and report any expenditures and reimbursements through Five Keys standardized reimbursement and financial tracking systems
  • Other duties as assigned

  • General knowledge of building maintenance and repair project management (2+ years experience with project management of building repairs and maintenance)
  • Building repair experience and competencies: (5+ years) painting, drywall, doors and windows, lights and basic understanding of electrical systems, working with wood and metal, familiarity with fixtures and building hardware, change fluorescent light bulbs, floors and carpets, mounting of televisions and audiovisual systems, etc.
  • Can do basic and certain advanced repairs on facilities without excessive assistance or instruction
  • Familiarity with the tools and equipment common to building maintenance and repair (5+ years experience with tools, building, repairs, etc)
  • Experience working with contractors and subcontractor on building projects (2+ years working with various building contractors)
  • Experience with fabrication of parts and builders who fabricate parts
  • Willingness to do basic tasks such as cleaning
  • Proven ability to complete work safely and keep a safe working environment for yourself and other employees

Education And Work Experience

  • Prior work with people dealing with mental health, disabilities, or substance abuse issues is preferred
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills
  • Possess a strong knowledge of social services; as well as mental health resources for low-income adults
  • Must be excellent at charting, record-keeping, and assist in the development of a community resource list/file
  • Will maintain professional, respectful, honest interactions with participants, staff and outside agencies
  • Must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and be sensitive to a diverse participant and staff population

Physical Requirements

  • Must wear provided PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adhere to all safety guidelines and requirements, when needed
  • Moderate to extensive degree of physical and emotional stamina
  • Ability to climb ladders; work with chemicals and potentially dangerous equipment safely
  • Ability to lift and carry: furniture, equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs
  • Position requires ability to walk, stand, lift, reach, bend, squat, kneel and crawl for extended periods of time
  • Frequent talking and hearing conversations
  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms
  • Ability to follow oral directions in emergency situations
  • Travel to multiple sites required
  • Must be able to move from place to place
  • Will honor and abide by Five Keys and regulations, including confidentiality

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the area to community sites
  • Work environment varies from site to site. There is some personal safety risk working with the at-risk population
  • Moderate to high noise level
