Job Description

Lighthouse Lab Services is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join the team of a medium-sized hospital located in Medina, NY .

The Medical Biller will be responsible for processing and managing patient accounts to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. Primary duties include billing claims to appropriate insurance carriers, applying knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and Revenue Codes , and resolving accounts with missing or incomplete information. This position will also manage Accounts Receivable Aging for assigned accounts to ensure balances do not age past 90 days.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit claims to insurance carriers.

• Review and resolve claims with missing or incomplete information.

• Monitor and manage A/R aging reports; follow up on claims exceeding 90 days.

• File claim appeals with insurance companies to ensure maximum reimbursement.

• Communicate with payers to resolve claim and reimbursement issues.

• Maintain patient account confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.

• Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure billing accuracy and timeliness.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of recent billing experience in a Critical Access or Acute Care facility.

• Proficiency in CPT and ICD-10 coding .

• Computer skills with ability to work in billing and EHR systems.

• Familiarity with medical terminology.

• Experience communicating effectively with insurance payers.

• Prior experience filing claim appeals to ensure maximum reimbursement.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to multi-task and work independently.

• E-Clinical Works (ECW) experience highly preferred.

• Responsible use of confidential information.

Salary and Benefits:
