Job Description

Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted is currently looking for a Parish Office Secretary to join their team. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8 am-3 or 4 pm (35 hours or 40 hours). You will need to work at the parish office in Waltham. General Responsibility: To manage the parish office in a Christian, professional, confidential, and efficient manner to serve both the parish staff and parishioners. Specific Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist parishioners in a Christian and professional manner
• Assist parishioners in their needs
• Proficient in computer/software
• Be able to multitask
• Responsible, confidential, and committed to position and parish
• Practicing Catholic who understands catholic parish life
• Maintain the parish database and website
• Accurately keep and record parish sacramental records and requests for masses
• Preparation and submission of Parish Bulletin weekly
• Answer phone calls/emails promptly and direct them to the desired person
• Accurately report offertory transactions
• Assist in coordinating volunteers for Pastor
• Flexibility with special projects i.e., all fundraisers including Turkey Rama
• Willingness to work with parish staff and others in a cooperative manner
• Maintain and record the use of the various rooms in the church complex.
• Other responsibilities as the pastor may require

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree required and/or a minimum of 5 years of previous office experience
• Experience managing confidential, sensitive matters with tact, respect and discretion required
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite software. Knowledge of graphic software and publisher would be a plus
