Job Description

Position Summary

Support Services Technicians (SST) are responsible for inventory, restocking and cleaning ambulances that are offline, and decontaminating and preparing various equipment for use. This position is an entry level position designed to introduce the employee to Field Operations equipment and develop maneuvering skills while driving ambulances at low speed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Inventory, fuel, and clean/decontaminate ambulances.
  • Pick up used/contaminated equipment from hospitals or other locations and clean/decontaminate and store for future use.
  • Delivery of equipment and supplies to other work locations as needed.
  • Maintain building cleanliness as directed by the CSR Supervisor.
  • Assist the CSR Supervisor with inventory duties.
  • Ability to drive company vehicles without accommodation.
  • Arrives at all work assignments on time, in appropriate attire.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Ensuring all safety rules and guidelines are followed accordingly.
  • Meets all or complies with all Equipment, Emotional, Physical, and Environmental demands.
  • Maintains a professional appearance when representing American Ambulance.
  • Answer the telephone and distribute calls and messages.
  • Responsible for completing and accurately documenting all paperwork and/or computerized records.
  • Notify other department supervisors of potentially inappropriate activities exhibited by other employees.
  • Promote good morale by exhibiting exemplary conduct, a positive attitude, and support for all personnel and American Ambulance.
  • Attend all meetings as required.
  • Participate in investigations as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the proper use of all facilities and equipment.
  • Responsible for returning all issued equipment in working condition at the end of employment or when requested.

Other Job Functions

  • Collaborate with the CSR Supervisor to ensure cross-training and mutual understanding of key functions, providing coverage and continuity during absences or high-demand periods.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred 2 years of customer service experience.
  • Must be at least 19 years old at the time of hire.
  • Current California Driver License.
  • Must have 2 complete years of driving experience.
  • Must meet insurability guidelines.
  • Must have basic math and reading skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Financial Authority

  • May requisition equipment/supplies related to the performance of job duties, through the department director.
  • May not purchase or authorize the purchase of inventoried items.
  • May authorize equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • May not contract or make financial commitments on behalf of the Company.
  • Human Resources Authority
  • May not request hiring of employees for current/ new positions.
  • May not discipline employees.

Communications Authority

  • May not release employee-related information.
  • May not release call-related information except to Operations Management or Director of Departments or with permission of the COA.
  • May not release Company-related information.
  • May not use Company letterhead.
  • May not communicate to the media.
  • Key Performance Measurements
  • Average monthly unit inventory time.
  • Average units inventoried per shift.
  • Accuracy in unit restock.
  • No excessive amount of inventory errors committed in a 12-month floating period.
  • No excessive amount of driving incidents committed in a 12-month floating period.
  • Punctuality in a 12-month floating period.
  • Attendance in a 12-month floating period.

Equipment Demands

  • This position operates primarily in a warehouse-type environment and routinely uses cleaning tools and equipment, which includes laundry and pressure washing equipment.
  • Proper PPE Gear is enforced for the safety of staff and required for certain tasks.
  • This position occasionally requires the use of basic hand tools. Computers, tablets, radios, phones, and copiers are also used for this role.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs. to a height of 20 inches safely.
  • Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle with a door/bumper height of 18 inches.
  • Must possess the manual dexterity to operate all required equipment safely.
  • Must be able to work for prolonged periods of time while standing.
  • Must be able to perform work at or above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to perform work while kneeling, stooping, or squatting.

Environmental Demands

  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to work in poor lighting conditions.
  • Must be able to work in temperatures with sudden changes.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather.
  • Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position that requires staffing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Shifts are 10 hours in length.

Travel

  • Local travel to various worksites, posts, and hospitals is required.
  • Must be able to travel from Kings, Clovis and Fresno Headquarters.
