Job Description

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the efficient day-to-day operations of the warehouse. This includes overseeing the receiving, storing, and shipping of goods, ensuring inventory accuracy, managing staff, and maintaining safety and operational standards. The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement in warehouse operations.

 

What your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Assist in overseeing a team of warehouse workers, including assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to warehouse staff to ensure high productivity and safety standards.
  • Assign daily tasks, set expectations, and monitor the performance of warehouse employees to ensure efficiency and quality standards are met.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback, conduct performance reviews, and address any issues related to staff behavior, performance, or adherence to safety policies.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels through regular stock counts and audits.
  • Monitor stock movement and ensure proper storage and rotation of goods.
  • Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager to handle inventory discrepancies and report any issues.
  • Oversee the receiving process, ensuring goods are accurately inspected, documented, and stored according to established procedures.
  • Supervise the picking, packing, and shipping of orders to ensure timely delivery and order accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate records of inbound and outbound shipments and ensure the proper handling of goods.
  • Ensure that all products are handled with care and meet the company's quality standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments to address any quality issues or discrepancies in shipments or inventory.
  • Enforce and promote a culture of safety within the warehouse by ensuring the proper use of equipment, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and safe handling practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of warehouse equipment and work areas.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and local safety regulations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing efficient workflows to improve warehouse productivity.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and work with the Warehouse Manager to identify areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to the optimization of storage space and organization within the warehouse.
  • Assist in generating regular reports on inventory levels, orders, and warehouse performance metrics.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth order fulfillment and resolve issues.

 

What you will need:

  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
  • Proficiency in using warehouse management systems and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order processing.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and warehouse best practices.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual Chinese is a plus.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time if needed.
  • May be required to stand, walk, bend, and climb for long periods of time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and possibly other work related machinery.
  • Frequent, continual, intermittent flexing, or rotation of the wrist(s) and spine including repetitive motions.
  • Constantly receiving detailed information through oral communication.
  • Constant talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas by means of verbal communication.
  • Constant clarity of vision at near and/or far distances.
  • May be exposed to outdoor weather/temperature conditions and noise levels.
