Job Description

HR Generalist (HRG)

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:

The HRG is responsible for leading and executing the client's group of businesses HR strategies, policies, and practices. This role oversees recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, compliance, and organizational development. The HRG acts as a strategic partner to leadership and a trusted resource for employees.

Additionally, the HRG will process payroll on a biweekly basis ensuring employees are paid accurately and timely and also act as a backup to the Accounting Coordinator helping with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable when required.

Human Resource Management:
Talent Acquisition & Staffing

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and orientation.
    • Onboard all new employees obtaining the following or reviewing the following information either in person, via internet video conferencing or third-party application:
    • W-4
    • I-9 and identifying documents
    • Check employee with eVerify
    • Direct Deposit Form with voided check
    • Document cell phone identification number (Serial Number)
    • Document computer identification number
    • Document printer identification number
    • Review company 401(k) plan
    • Review group health insurance plan
    • Review company policies and procedures of our client
    • Coordinate video conferencing meeting with Director of Safety for new hire safety information
    • Setup new employees in accounting software system, Bernie Portal, and Ascensus ensuring all payroll information is correct and that the employee is ready for the first payroll pay date.
    • Collaborate with department heads on staffing needs and help identify gaps in our workforce.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns and conflict resolution.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and recognition programs to include an emphasis on understanding and positively impacting a quality work life balance.

HR Policy & Compliance

  • Create, maintain and enforce HR policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Enforcement could include traveling to jobsite locations to observe attendance, monitor behavior, and address HR compliance deficiencies.
  • Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Oversee workplace investigations and disciplinary actions when necessary.

Compensation, Worker’s Compensation & Benefits

  • Administer employee compensation programs, payroll coordination, and benefits enrollment.
  • Partner with finance and benefits brokers to manage costs and ensure competitiveness.
  • Provide guidance on leave programs (FMLA, PTO, disability, and the like).
  • In coordination with the CFO, work with insurance agent(s) regarding worker’s compensation, 401k, and health plan renewals obtaining the best quotes and pricing.
  • Handle all worker’s compensation claims working directly with injured employee, their direct supervisor, and the insurance company. Ensure all appropriate paperwork is properly and timely filed and proper records are maintained. Where possible, help identify light duty or alternate work for employee if restrictions apply.

Performance Management

  • Guide annual performance review processes and goal setting.
  • Train managers on giving effective feedback and managing performance.
  • Track training and development plans for employees.

HR Strategy & Analytics

  • Develop HR metrics and reports to inform leadership decisions.
  • Monitor trends in employee retention, turnover, and compensation.

Payroll:

Payroll Processing

  • Processes biweekly payroll ensuring accurate entry of hourly, salary, and commission employees payments into payroll system as well as initiation of member guaranteed payments and/or draws.
  • Ensure all deductions are adequately entered such as 401(k), health benefits, etc.
  • Maintain appropriate job costing for assignable hours or commission payments.
  • Provide management support for payroll questions or concerns.
  • Review monthly expense reports submitted by company staff
  • Monthly review commission spreadsheet ensuring no commissions have been missed.
  • Prepare state and federal monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for employment taxes and withholdings.
  • Issue W-2’s on an annual basis.

Davis Bacon and Prevailing Wage Compliance

  • Review all Davis Bacon (DB), Davis Bacon Related Act (DBRA), and prevailing wage (PW) projects providing management a full understanding regarding wage determinations and the financial and administrative impact upon the organizations.
  • Provide assistance to internal staff and subcontractors regarding work classifications, appropriate pay scale, wage reporting, and general compliance.
  • Ensure all DB, DBRA, and PW projects have been complied with fully both internally and externally with subcontractors by confirming the accuracy of form WH-347 and other required forms as needed. Store all documents safely using Dropbox or similar storage system for potential future reference and proof.

Additional Items:

  • Provide weekly status report to CFO.
  • Maintain excellent recordkeeping and file management in Dropbox.
  • Perform additional tasks and projects as requested by supervisor(s).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

● 7+ y ears of progressive HR experience.

● Experience directly impacting HR management for companies with 50 or more employees.

Desired Qualifications:

● Knowledge in multi-state laws and regulations; currently Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee.

● Local candidate to Metro Nashville, Tennessee or Metro Huntsville, Alabama.

Compensation:

● Competitive Annual Salary

●$45 per month internet reimbursement

● Medical, dental, and vision options as defined by annual renewal rates. For the October 2025 - September 2026 policy year, our client pays $200+ each biweekly pay period toward medical insurance. Company d oes not pay anything toward dental and vision.

Fully remote . However, occasional company meetings in Middle Tennessee or other locations will occur periodically. T ravel will be required to enforce or monitor employee behavior from time-to-time.

● Standard Working Hours are 8am - 5pm CST Monday through Friday with occasional work required before 8am CST or after 5pm CST.
